I have memories going wa-ay back. If you want to know why we called it
"Boot" when we figured a way for the first operating system ever to organize
itself, see my web site _WWW.PHONEGUY.NET_ (http://www.PHONEGUY.NET)
Click my "Home page", and then "Why we boot"

My goodness, when I went to school we didn't have "Moodle;" the cooks served
us noodles.

The laptop was the teacher's cat.

OpenOffice Calc? If we were lucky we had an OpenBook Test. Heaven help the
student who had the audacity to use a calculator!

Oh, yeah, the wireless was also called a "radio." I guess you showed your
age calling it a "wireless."

(Side Note: Prof. Honsey at Bethany spoke about his days at St. Louis Sem
when the Cardinals would be in the World Series and he had a hard-of-hearing,
or HOH, professor. The students would walk into class and greet the professor
in loud voices so he would think his hearing aid was misadjusted. The prof.
would turn the aid down and the students would listen to the Cards on the
"wireless.")

But I musta did alright sans computers because I'm illiterate in Word but
can be a FrameMaker, shuffle Interleaf, grow ArborText, and distill wordshine
with Acrobat Distiller. (Once upon a time I chugged along on LocoScript then
tried fame as a WordStar, but my OpenOffice is always open now.)

It's interesting to see where new technology has gone. And I still have my
original CP/M machine!

John
